4-(N-Maleimidomethyl)cyclohexancarbonsäure N-Hydroxysuccinimidester (SMCC) ist ein heterobifunktionelles Vernetzungsreagenz mit Amin- und Sulfhydrylreaktivität. Es wird typischerweise zunächst gekoppelt an Moleküle, die primäres Amin enthalten, durch Amidbindung, gepuffert bei pH 7,5 (6,5–8,5). Die zweite Kopplung ist spezifisch für Moleküle, die freies Sulfhydryl enthalten, durch Thioetherbindung, gepuffert bei pH 6,8 (6,5–7,0). SMCC enthält neun Atom-Linker. Ein verlängerter aliphatischer Spacer stabilisiert das Maleimid vor der Kopplung im Vergleich zu aromatischen Spacern.
4-(N-Maleimidomethyl)cyclohexancarbonsäure N-hydroxysuccinimidester (SMCC) ist Nützlich für die Herstellung von Enzymimmunkonjugaten und Hapten-Trägermolekül-Konjugaten.
